Innovia Medical Sponsors Swansea Eastside Food Bank Charity Bike Ride

We are proud to have sponsored a charity bike ride to honor the loss of Ben, a 19-year-old who tragically lost his life in a motor vehicle accident last year. All proceeds from Ben’s bike ride were donated to the Swansea EastSide food bank.

Paul Richards, Innovia Medical Head of Operations in Swansea and a close friend of Ben’s family, wrote:

“Tragically, on May 31, 2022, a son of a friend of mine (Ben) tragically lost his life in a car accident. On June 3, 2023, his family and friends cycled from Bonymaen RFC and passed several rugby clubs in the Swansea area for a total distance of 32 miles, returning to the rugby club on completion.

Ben was only 19 years old. He spent the majority of his life ensuring his closest friends were ok. With this in mind — the charity bike ride was appropriately named ‘Be more Ben.’ All proceeds raised went to the Swansea Eastside Foodbank. The Foodbank is only 3 miles from our Innovia Swansea (DTR Medical) location. It was great to support our local community with a donation of £300 which was gratefully received. Thank you to Ed Sheppard for budgeting funds for charity which allows Innovia Medical to support such great causes as this.

During these turbulent economic times, one will be surprised how many families rely on organizations such as food banks. With daily living costs exponentially increasing (fuel, energy, food, etc.), the total sum raised for the charity ride of £7,000 was thankfully received and much appreciated by the families in need. One takeaway from me is that I must invest in a gel seat for the next ride I do!
